  1. When I have a brake job done, I always replace the rotors. I don’t turn them. I replace them, but that’s just me and my brakes has been great.

  2. Zimmerman are much better than textar and Zimmerman rotors are made in Germany, textar are made in China.

  3. I live in NJ and for at least 15 years now, both car dealer service departments and independent shops have told me that when you need a brake job, you must buy new rotors and pads. They’ve told me that the rotors, even when new are manufactured to be so thin (to keep weight down to meet CAFE standards) that after one brake job they cannot be turned because doing so would take the rotors outside of specs. So, in essence, every brake job means new pads and rotors which runs the costs up.

Is this a NJ bullshit scam or are the service departments and shop owners telling the truth that after X number of miles, when pads need replacing, the rotors need to be replaced as well?

    Thank you.

  4. I’ve noted actual warpage from rotors due to heat transfer that could not even be corrected with turning on lathe. That’s why they have veins in them since heat is number one offender to rotors. Riding the brake or mountain driving will warp them.

  5. Bosch quietcast pads and rotors on three vehicles, zero issues over 10 years of fitting them.
